Our Story
Welcome to Potpourri Café! We’re so glad you found us. Our café has been a little hidden gem in the community for around 40 years, and we're thrilled to be the latest caretakers of its rich history and cosy, welcoming atmosphere. The origins of Potpourri are a bit mysterious, but we do know it was started by a group of friends who attended yoga at a nearby leisure centre. After their classes, they wanted a place to unwind and enjoy a healthy meal together--and that’s how it all began.
Over the years, Potpourri Café has been owned by many different people, but its heart has always stayed the same. It’s a place where people come to relax, catch up with friends, and share good food. We often hear stories from people who used to work here during their university days, or from families who have special memories tied to this place. Just recently, a gentleman brought his mother all the way from Australia so she could revisit the kitchen she worked in 30 years ago!
What makes Potpourri truly special is its character and charm. The café’s original decor--including beautiful stained glass and church fittings rescued from a local demolition yard--gives it a unique, welcoming vibe. Many of our bentwood chairs are originals too, adding to the sense of history. Whether you’re a longtime regular or a first-time visitor, we’re here to offer you delicious, healthy food and a warm, friendly space to create your own memories.
